Big Idea's

Identity: It's who we are and what we associate our life with. No one can quite pinpoint it exactly, making it so special. Identity is a word that should not be tossed around lightly. It can separate us from who we are not and associate us with what we are...or think we are. Identity is not something you are born with. It is rather something learned and discovered. This is why identity is such and interesting topic. Each person's identity is different from the next because of what they have experienced through living.

Meaning: We are constantly searching for meaning on both a big scale as well as a small scale. Whether it be the meaning on why we are here, or the meaning of a dictionary definition. I can tie the word meaning into identity because both of the terms are a "process." As life continues, we understand more meaning behind things and what is actually important. The term meaning can stand for so much and can be brought out of just about everything we do.

Fear: A perceived threat. However, there is something very interesting behind what we perceive as fear and what we don't. Everyone has different fears, but for a reason. It's our natural reaction to a basic survival instinct. We are blessed with the ability to recognize danger and react to it. This is known as our fear and would be very interesting to express through art.

Crider Blog #1

Denotation: This picture is very simple. It has a simple background with only four objects being displayed. The bunny is obviously reaching to get a carrot or food, standing on stacked objects.
Connotation: This simple picture can display messages much more complex than it's composition. I relate this picture to the great length people or in this case bunnies will go to achieve what they want deep down. The bland background makes the objects pop, and support the message I received by showing that nothing else in this moment in time is significant. The bunny is simply focused on the prize, balancing his safety in order to achieve what he needs.

Denotation:"Locked Out," displays an extremely small house or maybe
even a shed standing alone on an island of keys. There is nothing around except for a small walkway that just leads to water. The island is composed of keys and even underneath the water there is keys. The ground is actually made of keys while the small building is wrapped in chains really displaying the fact that it is indeed locked.
Connotation:I think this picture demonstrates isolation, a feeling people have often. This idea that people sometimes think they are alone on certain beliefs or that no one else quite understands. This relates directly to the picture in that no key quite fits the lock leaving it alone on a mound of failed attempts. Nothing else but water and sky remain.

Denotation: A farm landscape is pictured with distant windmills. There is also an extremely large sun setting in the distance with birds flying overhead. To the left, a house is pictured which looks to be old and a bit run down.
Connotation: I was confused at first about what message this image gives. Then after a bit of looking at the details, the message I received was that at the end of the day...life still goes on. A simple pretty scenery which just reminds me of life in general is showing the end of a day. As bad as life may be, it will go on. This relates to the picture because the sun is setting, but the birds will still fly which in my perspective represent life.
